Choose your testing approach

The right test.
For the question
that matters.

Keep checking what changes. Investigate the systems that matter. Automated testing and specialist pentesting can work together; the useful comparison is what they cover, what they prove and who helps you act on the results.

Two approaches. A shared objective.

Find weaknesses, understand their consequences and verify the fixes. Start with the coverage and evidence you need, then choose how to deliver the work.

Frequency and repeatability

Automated testing

Useful for repeated checks, asset discovery and testing changes between assessments. Depending on the product, it may include scanning, authenticated tests or agents that investigate attack paths.

  • Check supported accounts and workflows.
  • Inspect evidence and incomplete-run reporting.
  • Confirm scope boundaries and permitted actions.

A focused investigation

Specialist pentesting

Engineers investigate an agreed system, adapt the approach as they learn and discuss the findings with your team. Useful when application context and specialist techniques are central to the question.

  • Agree roles, operations and testing effort.
  • Ask who investigates and reviews the findings.
  • Confirm the debrief and retest terms.

How they can work together

One practical model combines recurring checks with scoped investigations of important releases or sensitive systems. Make the division of work explicit.

  1. Monitor change

Repeat suitable checks as your environment changes.

  2. Investigate risk

Examine agreed roles, workflows and high-impact paths.

  3. Verify fixes

Reproduce the original issue and document the result.

Questions worth asking

Can we use both approaches?

Yes. Define their coverage separately, bring confirmed findings into your remediation process and choose a retest that can reproduce the original issue.

Does a platform replace every specialist test?

Compare the proposed scope with your requirements. Mobile runtime analysis, unusual workflows or an adversary-simulation exercise may call for different capabilities. Establish those requirements before buying.

What does Pixel provide?

Scoped offensive-security engagements with senior engineers, reproducible findings and a technical debrief. Our penetration tests include a remediation retest. The proposal sets the scope, timing and deliverables.
