Write and format the narrative

Structure a report without losing the evidence behind it.

01 / Use semantic structure

Break the narrative into meaningful headings and paragraphs. Use lists for parallel steps and tables for comparisons. Headings, quotes, bold and italic text communicate structure more reliably than spacing with repeated blank lines.

02 / Apply supported formatting

The editor supports quotations, links, foreground colour and highlighting, including within authored tables. Choose colours with readable contrast. A coloured paragraph is not a severity assignment; use the finding’s severity field for that.

03 / Add illustrations as evidence

Use the image attachment controls for narrative images rather than pasting arbitrary image markup. Give images a useful caption, and remove credentials, tokens and personal information that are not necessary to demonstrate the issue.

04 / Review the actual output

Check both the in-app report and the file format you intend to deliver. PDF and Word use different layout engines. Long tables, deeply nested lists and oversized screenshots deserve a specific visual check.

Illustrations use fictional Northstar / Atlas data. Interface availability depends on your role, the selected workspace and report state. Never use real customer data to reproduce a documentation example.
